Allen Ambush’s dynamic musicianship reflects a lifelong love
of music nurtured by both family and community. His
versatility in performing gospel, jazz, traditional and classical
music is reflected in his multiple experiences of international
and local performance.

Allen Ambush is both shaped and humbled by a wide array of
professional performance experiences that include opening for
the late Phyllis Hyman, Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente and playing
at the funeral of the great Joe Louis. Allen also entertained our
armed forces during a U.S.O. tour across the Mediterranean with
the Joe Doswell quartet. He is an accomplished choir director
and has served his church community in Washington, D.C. and
Frederick, Maryland. He has performed throughout the
Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and Baltimore, Maryland as
a soloist, accompanist, and band member while also leading his
own trio and quartet.

Allen Ambush completed his undergraduate studies at Maryland
University Collège Park receiving a Bachelor of Science degree
in Music Education. He pursued graduate studies at the Ohio
State University and received a Master’s degree in Educational
Leadership from Hood College. After serving several years as an
elementary and middle school music educator, Allen served as a
school administrator in the Maryland public school system for
more than 26 years.
